2018 ACP Design of the Year for Newspaper/Page One

After the emergence of the extremely offensive video from a Syracuse fraternity, we spent a lot of time trying to decide what to put on the front page for the next day. The day of the release, students spent hours protesting around campus, reactions on social media came flooding in, and a meeting held at the chapel garnered a large crowd.
Because of all of that, members of the staff agreed that no one photo could capture all the chaos that day. Instead of having a traditional front-page design, I made this typography to highlight the most important part of this story: the hateful language used by the fraternity.
This front page design won the 2018 Associated Collegiate Press Individual Award Design of the Year for Newspaper/Page One.
